An update, a confession.

I dislike making personal and dispriting posts but I’ve put a lot of thought into this and have been wanting to get this off my chest for a while -no sugarcoating it so here goes;

I’m done with mecha art right now. I realised that I’ve become satisfied with where I’ve gotten myself with in terms of my mecha /robot drawings. This satisfaction has made drawing mecha stale to me, and thus I feel as of late that my art (and myself) have become complacent and stagnant. I no longer feel the same passion and drive as I used to when it comes to making mecha (or more specifically, Gundam) art -no matter how hard I try. I don’t want to be known as that guy who draws strictly mecha. (haha.)

The only time I feel like I am progressing and enjoying the challenge of creating art is when I’m challenging myself with something that I am less comfortable with (or used to) drawing. The sense of challenge and progression was/is the main draw/kick I get out of creating art. I’ve gotten stuck in a space of safety and complacency in my art that I both want and need to shake off.

Though I will still create mecha art from time to time -as it is something near and dear to my heart and always will be. It will not be as much of a focus for me anymore. I want to push out of this rut and explore my unrealised boundaries, strengths, weaknesses and potential.
